#FringeFanFriday: @thecortexifan

Hello Fringe Family,

It's time for another #FringeFanFriday!

Congrats to @thecortexifan for being selected to participate in this weeks edition.

You can read her interview below....

1. What country are you from?

I'm originally from Germany but for the last 7 years I have called Colorado, USA, my home.

2. In what year did you discover Fringe and what led you to watch it?

Well, I watched from the beginning. But because I was still in Germany, it didn't air until Feb 2009. I was hooked before the first episode even aired. The previews were amazing. I was able to watch up until 1.10 I believe and then I moved to the US. Of course by then Season 1 was done. I found it online, caught up and watched live starting with Season 2 and had not missed one episode.

 3. What are your top 3 favorite episodes?

That is almost an impossible question to answer, lol. Wait, that is impossible.

Ok, fine, I'll try... nope, can't do it but I can tell you 3 of  my favorites are 2.17 "White Tulip". It was a clue to the end. You can read more about it here:
http://www.fringetelevision.com/2012/12/the-8-most-important-episodes-of-fringe_4.html

2.19 "Brown Betty". Full of foreshadowing.....

And 5.12 "Liberty". Seeing Olivia in action.

Others include: "Ability", "Bad Dreams", "The Road Not Taken", "A New Day In The Old Town", "Momentum Deferred", "Jacksonville", "Olivia", "Entrada", "6 B", "The Last Sam Weiss", "Welcome To Westfied", "The Human Kind"... the list goes on.

 4. What is one of your favorite moments of the the entire series?

Gosh, that is a hard one as well.

One is Olivia being locked up over there and Broyles comes to visit (Entrada). Her plea for help was just so... final. I think that must have been the first time even Olivia thought that there is no hope. It got to me every time I watched it.

The other would have to be Walter talking to Walternate just before they close the Bridge (Worlds Apart).

 5. Which character do you most identify with and why?

I identify most with Olivia. To quote her from 4.02 One Night In October: "I too come from an abusive home." We have the same character trade: ISFJ. I never had a role model growing up (I had two younger brothers). Once I saw Olivia, I knew that this was who I would like for a sister or even who I would like to be.

I also love her clothing style and made it mine. Blundstones, suits, leather jacket, pea coat and so forth. It is very comfortable and fits every occasion. I am very well grounded in reality but there is something about the character of Olivia Dunham that enabled me to be more confident

6. If you could change anything about the finale, what would it be?

I think we have been very fortunate to have had an actual ending to this show (even though I didn't want it to end). I might have added Olivia's and Peter's wedding, the pregnancy, and Olivia and Etta together, and maybe a glimpse into the future seeing how Walter is doing.

 7. If you could own any object or prop from the show what would it be?

I would like to have the bedding from the early seasons. I just love that pattern.

8. If you could meet your Doppelganger what would you be most eager to learn about them?

I would like to know if their childhood was different/better/worse. And if we share any talents.

9. Have you ever met any of the cast members and if so, what was your encounter like?

I have, my first encounter with a cast member was at Denver Comic Con in 2012, meeting Jasika Nicole (Astrid). It was an amazing experience. You can actually read about it here: http://www.fringetelevision.com/2012/06/jasika-nicole-at-denver-comic-con-from.html. And then again in 2014 on a vacation to L.A. I went to a play where Jasika participated. After it was over, I had to wait for a cab and she came out and we chatted for a bit and she gave me a hug... :)

In 2013 I met Seth Gabel at Denver Star Fest. Had a photo op with him and when I walked up to him he looked at me and said: "Have we met before?". His panel was amazing. Very kind man. You can read about that here: http://www.fringetelevision.com/2013/04/seth-gabel-at-denver-starfest-from-my.html.

For Season 4 and 5 I had the privilege to write episode reviews for fringetelevision.com and thus had the unbelievable (for me at least) opportunity to attend the Saturn Awards in L.A. for 2013 where Anna would win her 4th Saturn. I was an incredible experience to be at the red carpet, interviewing John Savage, who was a guest star in 2.02 "Night of Desirable Objects", and Lance Reddick who was also host for the evening. After the red carpet I was in the ball room witnessing Anna accept her award and listen to her speech. On the way out I walked by her and said "Congratulations" and she replied with "Thank you". I was so nervous and tired that I have no recollection of the rest of that conversation and how I even got there. My first clear memory after that is sitting in the car and realizing that I didn't tell her my name. You can read the whole experience here: http://www.fringetelevision.com/2013/07/fringe-at-39th-annual-saturn-awards.html.

I am still trying to meet John Noble. He was also in Denver in 2012 but I found out too late. And Michael Cerveris too :)

 10. Thank you for taking the time to be apart of our #FringeFanFriday, Is there anything you would like to add about your overall Fringe experience?

There will never be anything like Fringe again. It was and still is a very special show. I didn't have internet back in Germany and had no clue about ratings, fandoms, reviews, and merchandise, and cons. If I had not moved here, I would have missed out on so much. Because of Fringe, I made friends all over the world.

My house is decorated in "Fringe".

I try to find objects resembling items used on the show.

I even covered my dining room chairs with glyphs.

I drive around in my Fringe mobile.

I quote Fringe lines all the time. I used to eat Walter's crazy food, trying to recreate the stuff he cooked up. I had Fringe parties at my house.

Please be respectful of @thecortexifan's personal photo.

I cross stitch glyphs. I still watch it and also listen to the sound tracks. And... I still invite and recruit new watchers.

Please be respectful of @thecortexifan's personal photo.

It is an unforgettable experience. Watching Fringe, made me a better person.

I think we can all agree that Fringe has made us better people! On a personal note, this was a very special #FringeFanFriday for me as TheCortexifan is one of my dearest friends and I am so thankful that our paths crossed through our beautiful little show.  :')

#FringeFanFriday: @Stephen_Tulley

Hello Fringe Family,

It's time for another #FringeFanFriday!

Congrats to @Stephen_Tulley for being selected to participate in this weeks edition.

You can read his interview below....

1. What country are you from?

I'm in the Los Angeles area of California, USA.

2. In what year did you discover Fringe and what led you to watch it?

I remember the buzz in town about the pilot, which I watched and was immediately a fan of the series.

 3. What are your top 3 favorite episodes?

I would say the "Pilot" (which hooked a whole bunch of fans)

But in addition I would add "Jacksonville",

 "White Tulip",

And what may surprise some "Liberty".

I think that episode was a direct overture from Joel to the fans to see a reunion of Fauxlivia and Lincoln and what happened to them in the alternate universe.

4. What is one of your favorite moments of the the entire series?

There are so many, but one of my personal favorites is at the final scene of Jacksonville when Olivia sees Peter shimmering and realizes that he isn't from this universe and everything she thought about Peter and Walter was a lie. You can see it in her eyes glaring at Walter! It's like she's saying, "What did you do"?!

5. Which character do you most identify with and why?

Strangely, I feel a bit like Lincoln of Season 4 who for most of the season went around saying, "This is weird." I work in a business, and a town (Hollywood) where that is a daily thing.

6. If you could change anything about the finale, what would it be?

I was very happy with the ending. So few serialized shows get the chance to write an ending that answers a lot of questions. However, I would have liked to have seen a foreshadowing that the remaining Observer Science Team members might take a chance and bring Walter back from the future since we learned that they all experienced "emotive development" and even December chose to reach out and help human kind at great risk. It would have been a great set up for a movie or TV special.

7. If you could own any object or prop from the show what would it be?

The Photon Window that can see the other universe! Fringe was a TV show, why not get the "ultimate" TV!

 8. If you could meet your Doppelganger what would you be most eager to learn about them?

If they made the same decisions in life that I did.

9. Have you ever met any of the cast members and if so, what was your encounter like?

Oh yes! Since I work in the "business." I detailed this in some posts for the All Fringe Blog. Unfortunately, the last two seasons of Fox's Aquarius I've been a vintage car precision driver on many episodes, but have not had any scenes with Chance Kelly, who played the evil Marshall Loeb in Season 1 of Fringe. That would be fun to meet him!

10. Thank you for taking the time to be apart of our #FringeFanFriday, Is there anything you would like to add about your overall Fringe experience?

I am still amazed at how good this show was. I would just like to share one experience. When Lost was wrapping up I listened to two Los Angeles disk jockeys talking about the differences between Lost and Fringe. They agreed that viewers of Lost were given a whole bunch of questions about the island, but at the end of the season most of those questions went unanswered. They did agree, however, that Fringe gave the viewers a bunch of questions during the course of a season, but those questions were answered at the end of each season, and then the show built upon those answers in the next season. That's quite a legacy.

#HappyBirthdayAimee

Hello Fringe Family,

Today, June 27th marked the birthday of a very special soul in our Fringedom that was sadly taken from us too soon.

Her name is Aimee Long and she helped form Fringenuity, a Fringe fan group that helped save Fringe from being cancelled prematurely by their successful trending events each week.

Beyond her inspiring work campaigning for Fringe, she was an incredible human being through the many loyal friendships she made.

In honor of Aimee's birthday we would like to ask everyone that knew her or was touched by her kindness to wear the above icon, and use the hashtag #HappyBirthdayAimee to share what she meant to you.

Aimee was one of my very first friends when I was first introduced to the Fringe Fandom back in 2012, and I will never forget the impact that her welcoming friendship made in my life.

We love and miss you, Aimee!

#FringeFanFriday: @fringeobsessed1

Hello Fringe Family,

It's time for another #FringeFanFriday!

Congrats to @fringeobsessed1 for being selected to participate in this weeks edition.

You can read her interview below....

1. What country are you from?

USA

2. In what year did you discover Fringe and what led you to watch it?

I watched Fringe from the date the pilot episode aired in the US, I believe it was September 09, 2008 or around then, and I was hooked from the very first episode!

 3. What is your top 3 favorite episodes?

Wow! Hard to narrow my favorites down to 3, Hmm....

I would say “The Transformation” because I love everything about that episode.

“Bad Dreams,” because that episode inspired me to begin writing Fringe fan fiction and posting it at fanfiction.net.

And maybe all the episodes in Season 2.

I loved the show UNTIL they introduced Fauxlivia in a very Desperate Housewives kind of way. I didn’t like that part of the series at all.

4. What is one of your favorite moments of the the entire series?

There are several. I think there are two Peter/Liv moments that make the season for me: 1) When Peter gets Olivia out of the tank the first time and holds her-despite his reckless lifestyle, you know then that he’s smitten.

And: 2) That moment in "6B" when Liv returns to see Peter with the wine and they go upstairs. A real squee moment well earned for the Polivia shippers.

5. Which character do you most identify with and why?

There are several Olivia moments where she’s incredibly frustrated, like when she’s in the bathroom in the alt verse and realizes she can’t get back home. I can relate to that level of frustration and that need to cry it out.

6. If you could change anything about the finale, what would it be?

I thought the finale was good the way it was.

 7. If you could own any object or prop from the show what would it be?

The deprivation tank would be pretty freaking awesome to have. I’m envious that Ari Margolis, the FOX media man extraordinaire who did all the Fringe promos, got to sit in it on the set for pictures!

 8. If you could meet your Doppelganger what would you be most eager to learn about them?

Did they get to meet the love of their life? And have they been happy?

9. Have you ever met any of the cast members and if so, what was your encounter like?

Not in person. I started writing for the fringetelevision. com blog as ‘fringeobsessed’ in 2009 I think, and through that blog I got invited to participate in several FOX media calls with the writers from other news outlets like TV Guide, Io9, GiveMeMyRemote, and others.
I really LOVED interviewing Jeff Pinkner & Joel Wyman, the two executive producers. I got to know them well and we know each other by name. It was quite an honor to hear their reactions to the, "Where Is Peter Bishop" fan-vid dozens of us fans put together in the August between Seasons 3 and 4. You can view it on Youtube below.....

This fan-vid made it to the FOX administrators who, I am told called Pinkner & Wyman into a meeting and showed it to them and they were crying. Basically it was the first time a TV fandom had demanded a continuation of their series via a fan-vid that was directly emailed to the network, and Joel Wyman thinks the video alone got Fringe a last season. Pinkner & Wyman asked me live during a FOX media call if I had contributed to that video and I said yes. They asked me which one was my contribution and I was absolutely STUNNED that they wanted to know!
By the way, in the last several seconds of the video there’s a picture of a newsstand called ‘Out Of Town News,’ which is the newsstand they modeled one after in Season 1, the episode in which in the beginning the newsman’s orifices close up and he dies. The Out Of Town Newsstand exists at Harvard Square in Cambridge, Mass. near where Walter’s lab is supposed to be. It was really fun to go there on site and put the "Where Is Peter Bishop" signs up for photos.
I got to ask John Noble questions during a FOX media call, but I didn’t get to talk with him live.Writing for the fringetelevision.com blog site has been a real honor for me. I’m proud of everything that I and the rest of the crew there have written over the years about the show. I am especially proud of the Summer Re-watch series that my talented friends and I wrote starting here:http://www.fringetelevision.com/2011/07/fringe-summer-rewatch-101-pilot.html In which we reviewed EVERY EPISODE from the pilot through the last episode of Season 3, all done in the summer hiatus of 2011.
I have also written dozens of Fringe fanfics from ‘Bad Dreams’ on and I enjoy the feedback that people give me regarding them. You can find my stories here:https://www.fanfiction.net/u/978823/wjobsessed. Please write a review if you like them. Also, if you scroll back far enough in the fringetelevision.com pages you’ll probably find a recording of one of my live interviews with Jeff Pinker and Joel Wyman. They are amazing showrunners who love their fans.
 10. Thank you for taking the time to be apart of our #FringeFanFriday, Is there anything you would like to add about your overall Fringe experience?

There’s more to the Violet Sedan Chair story than meets the eye. Look up my account at fringetelevision.com. I don’t think that story is over! Also, I don’t think some fans realize how much Fringe was loved while it aired, and how many people around the world made friends through the Fringe fandom. I still have 200+ fans as my friends on Facebook to this day.
Near the end of the series a Fringe fan named Aimee Long, a good friend of mine, developed the group Fringenuity which became a recognized social media think tank. She organized trips to the set in Vancouver, and humanitarian efforts in the name of the show. She was a real pioneer in creating a bridge from fan to fan humanitarian. Sadly she died 2 years ago and in honor of her, Joel Wyman named a character ‘Aimee’ in his post Fringe series, "Almost Human".

Also, David Wu is a real guy, a Fringe fan who decided to make musical tributes to each episode and he named his effort The Fringemunks. The executive producers adored his work and named the guy on the utility pole in the episode ‘The Man From The Other Side,’ David Wu, in his honor.
